29. BGRUK Tamu Lhochhar 2024 (Monday, 30 December 2024): –It was huge success BGRUK Lhochhar Program financially and attendees. Everyone has  enjoyed delicious fresh cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner. We  like to thank specially to AMA Group as a whole those who make event memorable, there was no room for error, similarly our puja coordinator Mina Baini, who handled so well. Other Thank goes to Puja pramukh Khenrinpoche Dashrath Guru and balista Guru Suk Bahadur Guru who have run Puja event perfectly. In merchandising department Mrs Bhim Kumari Gurung, Mrs Sita Gurung and bhanja -bhanji took responsibility very well and in photography Bhadini Mrs Yashoda Gurung and Mr Subin Gurung did a fantastic job to capture all lovely moments. Mr Suryaman Gurung you are fantastic to control carpark in big events.
Wait a minute, HEADCHEF Mr Rajendra Gurung, Mrs Keshu Gurung, Mrs Jayanti Gurung and Mrs Sarita Gurung  you all  nailed it even though it’s cold 🥶 outside, you cooked multiple times with no fuss, hats 🎩 off you all.

The event was run by General Secretary Mr Kamal Gurung and BGRUK President Welcome and wished and gave a Tamu Lhochhar and New Year message to all.
Ultimately, you guys were awesome in every aspect. We wish you all Happy Lhochhar and New Year 2025.

30. 2569th Buddha Jayanti (Monday, 12 May 2025):-

Buddhist Gumba Reading UK celebrated 2569th Buddha Jayanti on Monday, 12 May 2025 own it’s building. The anniversary was led by H.E. Lhatse Tulku Rinpoche along with Soktul Tulku Tenzin Gyurmed Rinpoche, Dhorje Lopen Shankar Guru, Lama Dhiraj and Lopen Dhorje. It was huge success, devotees from Reading and beyond Reading were participated on that day.

The event was divided in three parts, and the early morning main Gumba priest Dhorje Lopen Shankar Guru performed Sang Puja, in second part H.E. Lhatse Tulku Rinpoche was WELCOME by all devotees and venerable Tulu, BGRUK chairman and representatives from local heads formally open the event with lightning butter lamp. H. E. Lhatse Tulku Rinpoche erect the Big Thanka outside to celebrate and mark the 2569thanniversary, which was donated to BGRUK by himself, and further he has donated £1,000 cash too. He has chanted the prayer while having Ku Thui Puja (showering the Buddha statue) by each individual and encircled the monastery three times along with all devotees.

On the 3rd part H.E. Lhatse Tulku Rinpoche gave a religious discourse which was translated in English, Chinese and Nepali.

In the event, all breakfast, lunch and fruits are sponsored by Mrs Usha/Yubaraj Gurung family, Rajendra/Mrs Mithu Gurung family, Pradeep/Mrs Kushum Gurung Family, Mrs Pushpa Gurung family, Mr Hari/Bindhya Gurung and Gaurav/Mrs Junu Gurung family.

Similarly, Mrs Shova Gurung from Danda Kharka has donated water, soft drinks, toilet papers, disposable plates, fruits and vegetable for the event.

The event was run by GS Kamal Gurung, where as VP Krishna Bahadur Gurung has Welcome all Gurus and devotee and BGRUK chairman Insp (Retd) Khem Bahadur Gurung Thanked all those individuals who make the event successful. In the event all food sponsored individuals have been facilitated with Khada by H.E. Lhatse Tulku Rinpoche.

To make the event successful, there were numerous hands from volunteers and executive members. On the finance and Food-donation Treasurer Maj Buddhi Bahadur Gurung and his team Ms Anusuiya Gurung, Ms Arpana Gurung and Ms Puja Gurung play a tremendous role to raise more than £11,000 fund for the organisation. Similarly, in kitchen side, Mrs Basanti Gurung, Mrs Jayanti Gurung, Mrs Sarita Gurung, Mrs Asha Gurung, Mrs Jamuna Gurung, Mrs Chandra Gurung, Mrs Keshu Gurung, Mrs Sita Gurung and others.

To arrange the carpark Mr Suryaman Gurung, Mr Khem Gurung, Mr Surya Gurung and Mr Kamal Gurung did the fantastic job in whole day. On Lamp side Mrs Purnasuba Gurung worked tirelessly to fill and clean the lamps. Acknowledging her contribution BGRUK facilitated her with Khada by H.E. Lhatse Tulku Rinpoche.

On the Puja side, Mrs Mina Gurung was handling. Mrs Dimpi Gurung, Mrs Anita (Bhim) Kumari Gurung, Mrs Anita Gurung and Mrs Radha Gurung also helped to serve Gurus and guest during the event.

This year also in a coordination of Mrs Rajkumari Gurung BGRUK managed to collect van full of quality canned foods, pack or bottle drinks, toiletries, essential baby foods and nappies which was given away to Wokingham Food-bank. In response Wokingham Foodbank has written- “A HUGE Thank You to Buddhist Gumba Reading UK community for donating an enormous 347.3kg o donation. We Thank You again for your generosity and thank for supporting the Wokingham community.”

At the end, all devotees have been given opportunity to pay their respect and photo session with all Gurus on their capacities. It has been one of the historic events and full of success.

The most beautiful aspect was that after the main event, when BGRUK main Guru Khenrinpoche Shirlama Guru aka Thupten Yashe organised the Candle-lit programme after 7 PM and have had a short discourse. Mostly all Ama group were present at the moment and has had a close interaction programme with Guru until late evening. Venerable Khenrinpoche Shirlama Guru presented all Ama group members with precious shawl as a love of token at the end. It was very useful and fruitful event by far.

31.Saga Dawa, Full Moon  (सागधावा, पूर्णीमा)  शिन्डूप ब्रत:-

Buddhist Gumba Reading UK held a one day Saga Dawa event. This event was run by main religious Guru venerable Kenrinpoch Shirlama Guru along with Dorje Lopen Shankar Guru and Lama Dhiraj Guru. Buddhist consider the Saga Dawa festival to be one of the most auspicious religious practices in their life.  During the festival devotees  refrain from eating meat and rather free animals from slaughter, doing this, Buddhist believe that they can collect merits. This year Saga Dawa, full moon months fell on Wednesday, 11 June 2025  which is very important and devotees worshiped Buddha by celebrating his birth, enlightenment and his death (Parinirvana).

 

31.Vajra Kilaya (Dorje Phurpa) empowerment and the Four Aspects of Liberation Dharma teachings:-

On the date of 12th July 2025, we are honoured to receive the blessings and teachings of His Eminence Asanga Bajra Rinpoche, a direct lineage holder of the Khondung Shakya clan, who has bestowed the Vajra Kilaya (Dorje Phurpa) empowerment and imparted the Four Aspects of Liberation Dharma teachings. The event was hosted by three organizations at Great Hall, London Road Campus, Reading as; –

  1. Buddhist Gumba Reading UK
  2. Yeshe Longde
  3. Pama Kare Gatsal

On the event, many heads of the local and around the UK organizations were presented. It was immensely successful event. All the foods drinks and dinner were sponsored by BGRUK itself. In the event there were facilities to translate in three different languages as Nepalese, Chinese and English.

Buddhist Gumba Reading UK took all the responsibilities as decorating hall, inviting all organizations and devotees, advertising the event, and running the programmes.    On the event those who were present able to join this auspicious event, the Punya Mandala program, to accumulate merit and receive blessings in the last.

32. Pragyaparamita (Hyumposti):- 

Buddhist Guma Reading UK held a Pragyaparamita (Hyumposti) event from Monday, July 28 to Sunday, August 3 2025, for seven days, under the guidance of our Mul  Guru, the venerable Khen Rinpoche Shir Lama (Thubten Yeshe) Gurung, along with seven skilled teachers.  It was the  second time the recitation ceremony of the 16 volumes of the Buddha’s great words, the Pragyaparamita Sutra (Hyumposti),being  held here.

Every single days through out the week , there were different kinds of Cheif-Guest  to make event attractive.  As a Buddhist, this it is a significant event where he or she can  receive merits participating and practicing Buddhist sutras.
The Puja was run early morning 10 am to 4 pm, in which in first phase, recitation of the Puja and in second phase, religious discourse, sutra recitation, Mahakal Puja and Monlam recitation.

All through the Puja week, BGRUK Ama Group provided the free foods and drinks. Similarly Puja coordinator VP Nar Bahadur Gurung run the day to day programme smoothly.

33. Tihar festival Sunday, 19 October 2025: – 

Buddhist Gumba Reading UK (BGRUK) celeberated a Tihar festival in it’s own building, which was little bit different to last years as we celebrated with chanting prayers with pure vegetable foods. On the event BGRUK extended warmest and heartfelt congratulations to all Nepali brothers and sisters on the occasion of the great festival of Tihar 2082, wishing a bright and auspicious Tihar in their lives.

Puja chief Harka Ghale Guru and Lama Pradip Guru jointly led the chanting prayer along with all devotees.

On Sunday, 19 October 2025, Buddhist Gumba Reading UK Mother’s Group (MG) organized a program to mark the Tihar 2082, where the Gumba family gathered at the Gumba building under the guidance of the Gurus and performed the Monlam prayer and managed to collect a total of £2838 in donations, which was successfully completed with the Gurus’ blessing.

Buddhist Gumba Reading UK Mother’s Group, has expressed deepest heartfelt gratitude to all the Gurus and the entire Gumba family for making the program a success despite the short notice.

It was immensely successful, each and every one those who were present on that day were happy and enjoying with delicious fresh live Sail- Roti and verities of foods.

BGRUK like to make sure that the donations made by you will be utilised properly for the charitable purposes. Puja co-ordinator Mrs Mina Gurung was handling in puja side.

At the end, BGRUK chairman Insp. Khem Bahadur Gurung THANKED all those who make contributions to make event successful and wished for Happy, healthy and prosperous life to all.
