In Saga Dawa, Buddhist Gumba Reading UK (BGRUK) successfully hosted a sacred one-day Shindrup Brata at own monastery on Sunday, 17 May 2026. Saga Dawa is the most sacred month in the Buddhist calendar, known as the “Month of Merits”. It commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death (Parinirvana) of Buddha. Buddhists believe that any actions which are committed during this time will be multiplied by many times.
So, in Saga Dawa, devotees practiced the profound fasting and purification retreat focused on cultivating immense compassion for all sentient beings which ultimately, allows devotees to purify negative karma, heal illnesses, and generate deep spiritual merit.
The sacred event was led by esteemed spiritual Gurus:
- Venerable Khenrinpoche Shirlama Guru
- Khenpo Shyam Guru
- Lama Gam Guru
- Devotees: 24 dedicated practitioners strictly observed the one-day fasting and purification vows.
- Catering: The BGRUK Ama Group lovingly prepared and served fresh, pure vegetarian dishes to support the practitioners.
- Coordination: The event was seamlessly organized by Vice President Krishna Bahadur Gurung and Vice President Nar Bahadur Gurung.
At the end, VP Nar Bahadur extended his heartfelt gratitude to all Gurus, Ama Group, the coordinators, all the devotees and all volunteers whose devotion made this event immensely successful.
May the merit generated benefit all sentient beings.
