On Tuesday, December 30, 2025, the Buddhist Gumba Reading UK hosted a significant celebration for Tamu Lhochhar 2025, marking the transition from the Year of the Snake to the Year of the Horse.
The event was led by H.E. Tulku Lhatse Rinpoche alongside seven prominent Gurus: Khenpo Dawa Guru, Lama Harka Jang Ghale Guru, Lama Dawa Guru, Lama Pradip Guru, and Lama Dhorje Guru and Lama Norbu Guru.
The program was moderated by GS Kamal Gurung, with a Welcome speech by VP Nar Bahadur Gurung and a Note of Thanks from VP Krishna Bahadur Gurung, who also served as the overall event coordinator.
Chairpersons from various organizations attended, including:
- Mr. Jum Kaji Gurung (President, TDUK)
- Mrs. Bindu Ghale Gurung (President, Tamu Samaj UK)
- Mr. Mahendra Gurung (President, Tamu Dhee Hampshire Ekai UK)
- Mr. Sarda Gurung (President, Sahara UK)
- Mrs. Yam Kumari Gurung (Chairwoman, Manepa Sang Reading)
The celebration was divided into three distinct phases:
- Consecration Ceremony: Tulku Lhatse Rinpoche performed the “Eye Opening” ceremony for the Guru Rinpoche statue located in front of the Gumba.
- Gyabsi Puja: A powerful ritual aimed at removing negative karma and obstacles. Devotees participated in symbolic offerings of light, food, and torma, as well as personal rituals like; cutting of nails and circling seeds overhead to prevent from hindrances.
- Tse Wang Puja (Life Empowerment): H.E. Tulku Lhatse Rinpoche blessed lifelong blessings to all devotees by praying for longevity and good health. During the ritual devotees offered light and Lungta(prayer flags) to God believing to get positive energy and peace for the new year.
The success of the event relied on a large team of volunteers. Notable contributions included:
- Finance: Treasurer Maj Buddhi Bahadur Gurung, Ms. Puja Gurung,
- Sales: Mrs. Bhim (Anita) Gurung and her team.
- Light: Mrs Rubini Gurung and team.
- Puja Management: Mrs Mina Kumari Gurung and VP Nar Bahadur Gurung.
- Guru Service: Mrs Jamuna Gurung, Mrs Sagun Gurung and Mrs Jayenti Gurung.
- Guest Receiving: VP Krishna Bahadur Gurung, Prop-Co. Chandraman Gurung and GS Kamal Gurung
- Kitchen & Catering: BGRUK Ama Samuha, serving traditional Sail-roti, yam, sweet potatoes, and a pure fresh vegetarian lunch.
- Translation: Ms. Kanchan Gurung assisted international devotees in understanding the teachings.
- Carpark Attendance: Car parking was managed by Mr. Suryaman Gurung, Mr Kismat Gurung, Mr Ram Gurung, Mr Khem Gurung and Mr Ananda Ghale.

The day concluded with Guru Darshan, and participated in group photography to commemorate the start of the Year of the Horse.
